What is Low Footprint Living?

What is Low Footprint Living?

Low Footprint Living is about feeling good about your health and optimistic about your future. It’s about living sustainably, being adaptive, creative, responsive and resourceful in a changing world.

Sustainable living happens within an eco-budget that is not draining or poisoning the well from which we (and our children) must drink. When we are not sustainable, most grown-ups feel uncomfortable at some level, a little anxious that some day soon, a debt will come due and we can’t pay the bill.

Choosing to live sustainably brings the same peace of mind as deciding to live within a financial budget. You can relax in the knowledge that you’re not constantly shooting yourself in the foot in ways that one day are going to hurt you and your children.

Shades of Perfect

If you have a pulse, it is impossible to live with no footprint.  Saving your world is not about zero footprint. It’s about more balance, about not using more than you need, and being resourceful and creative in living the life you have.

What makes it tough is that it is (almost) impossible to live in a sustainable way in the modern world. Choices of food and product are often limited by those worried about the economy. Dirty is cheap, and good for short term profits.

This website exists to help with that… to make it easier for you to find or create the products and perspectives you need to live well and stay healthy, no matter how messed up the world becomes in the years to come.

“We have to cultivate contentment with what we have. We really don’t need much. When you know this, the mind settles down. Cultivate generosity. Delight in giving. Learn to live lightly. In this way, we can begin to transform what is negative into what is positive. This is how we start to grow up.” – Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo

Why LFL is Awesome

Once you get into the sustainable thinking groove, the pleasures that await are numerous and delicious…

  • It’s cheaper. Organic, natural stuff is usually more expensive, but you buy less and waste less of everything. Overall, it’s a good deal.
  • Its cleaner. The best part of being out of the chemical sewer of modern life is … being out of the sewer. Naturally, it feels good.
  • It’s more fun. When you dance with life it dances back. When you align with what you love, what you love comes to play.

Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them.
–Albert Einstein.

A new level of awareness is already emerging. As it matures, our global environmental challenges will be solved in ways that seem hardly possible today.

The Good News

With the help of the internet, the incoming generations are more aware of the environment in ways that some oldies are not.

When enough people of any age begin to care about the quality of the world they will leave to their children, the world will change in ways that will become unstoppable.

The technology already exists, we need only the will and enthusiasm to change. Through an optimistic lens, evidence of the beginnings of change can be seen everywhere.
